The coated article is adjacent to at least one barrier layer comprising metallic or substantially metallic zinc (Zn) to improve the chemical durability properties of the Low-E coating. And a silver (Ag) based infrared (IR) reflective layer on a glass substrate provided in contact therewith. In certain exemplary embodiments, the silver-based layer is between a metallic or substantially metallic first barrier layer and a second barrier layer that both consist of or include zinc (Zn). May be sandwiched. The IR reflective layer and the zinc-based barrier layer are part of the low emissivity (Low-E) coating.
