PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide polycrystalline diamond covered with a water insoluble protective film and capable of suppressing tribo-plasma.SOLUTION: The polycrystalline diamond is polycrystalline diamond having a diamond single phase as a basic composition, constituted by a plurality of crystal particles, contains boron, nitrogen, silicon and the balance carbon and a trace amount of impurities, in which the boron is dispersed in the crystal particles at atom level, 90 atom% or more thereof exists as an isolated substituted type, the nitrogen and the silicon exist as the isolated substituted type or an immersion type in the crystal particles and the crystal particles have particle diameter of 500 nm or less.SELECTED DRAWING: None
