The present invention relates to a process for the simultaneous production of polyols by base-catalyzed conversion of at least two different medium chain aldehydes using formaldehyde. The same time continuous mode of operation makes it possible to achieve a high conversion and high selectivity for both aldehydes and additionally achieve a clear reduction in the amount of unreacted formaldehyde remaining. This results in an improvement in process economy since the energy costs for formaldehyde flow workup are clearly reduced.
