Time-based parametric contrast enhanced ultrasound imaging system and method

Ultrasound diagnostic imaging systems and methods acquire a series of image data as a bolus of contrast agent is washed in and out of the liver. The contrast intensity image data is used to calculate a time-intensity curve of the contrast flow for a point in the ultrasound image. The time-dependent data is, in the described embodiment, calculated from data of the time intensity curve having first and second derivatives of the time intensity curve. The color map is formed from time-dependent data or data polarity and is displayed on the parametric image as a color overlay of the liver contrast image.
