PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synonym detecting device which can detect a synonym of compound nouns included in a document.SOLUTION: A synonym detecting device comprises: a compound noun detection unit (11) in which a compound noun is detected by performing a morphological analysis for a character string included in a document data, and break points of the word and between words included in the compound noun is specified for each of the detected compound noun; a synonym candidate selection unit (12) which regards two compound nouns selected from the detected compound nouns as a synonym candidate; and a synonym determination unit (13) which determines the two compound nouns as a synonym for each other when a character string obtained by rearranging order of words included in one of the two compound nouns in the synonym candidate coincides with the other of the two compound nouns in the synonym candidate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
