PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gripping mechanism capable of automatically sliding a vehicle seat back and forth for moving it back and forth along with a reclining operation, a manual operation and the like.SOLUTION: A gripping mechanism for gripping at least one linear transmission member moving in a specified direction comprises: a belt gripping member 73 formed of a wire in a substantially U-shape or laid U-shape; a back plate 71 onto which an end portion of the belt gripping member is rotatably attached; a slide plate 74 including a slide long hole through which the back plate can slide and a belt gripping member passing hole 74b through which the belt gripping member can slide and pass. The belt gripping member passing hole 74b is formed bent or curved to allow the belt gripping member to move closer to or away from the back plate by sliding the slide plate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 8
