PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inspect surface properties of a machined workpiece, while exposing a texture residual part and rust in the machined workpiece obtained by machining a material after hot-molding a billet or the like as an intermediate material.SOLUTION: A surface property inspection apparatus according to the present invention includes: a test object imaging device that applies linear laser light to a surface of a moving test object, with a machined workpiece defined as the test object, and captures an image of a surface to which the linear laser light is applied to generate a light sectioning image; and an arithmetic processing unit for performing image processing of the generated light sectioning image. The arithmetic processing unit includes: an image calculation section for calculating a depth image, a luminance image, and a linewidth image on the basis of a stripped image frame obtained from the light sectioning image; and a detection processing section for detecting surface properties of the test object on the basis of the calculated depth image, luminance image, and linewidth image. The detection processing section detects whether or not a texture residual part or rust is present on the surface of the test object on the basis of the linewidth image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
