This is a method for producing a catalyst for reforming carbon dioxide of methane, in which a silica carrier is impregnated with a solution containing a chelate complex containing nickel, the impregnated silica carrier is dried and calcined, and nickel is supported on the silica carrier. This provides a carbon dioxide reforming catalyst that is inexpensive but has good stability. Further, methane and carbon dioxide are reacted in the presence of the carbon dioxide reforming catalyst to produce a synthesis gas containing hydrogen and carbon monoxide.
