Provided is a method for producing trans-1,4-disubstituted cyclohexane derivatives that are useful as liquid-crystal compounds. Specifically, 1,4-disubstituted cyclohexane derivatives, which are a cis and trans mixture represented by general formula (1), are isomerized in the presence of only a catalytic amount of sulfonic acid.
