PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a separation material porous polymer particle in which the nonspecific adsorption of biological macromolecules is reduced, the adsorption amount is high, and the liquid permeability is excellent when used as a column; and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: Provided is a method for producing separation material porous polymer particle comprising: a step of emulsifying a mixed liquid containing a monomer having a polymerizable unsaturated group, a water-soluble polymer having a polymerizable unsaturated group, and an aqueous medium; and a step of co-polymerizing the monomer and the water-soluble polymer in the emulsified mixed liquid to produce a porous polymer particle.SELECTED DRAWING: None
