To provide a magenta color thermal transfer sheet capable of providing a printed matter having no generation of dye transition or so-called scumming at a non-printed part of the printed matter, and excellent in high concentration, high chroma and light resistance.SOLUTION: There is provided a magenta color thermal transfer sheet 1 having a heat resistant lubricate layer 3 on one surface of a substrate sheet 2, and a magenta dye layer 4 on another surface, in which the magenta dye layer contains at least an azo-based compound represented by the specific formula and an anthraquinone-based compound, and a solid component weight ratio of the azo-based compound in the magenta dye is 5 wt.% to 50 wt.%.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
