The invention discloses a stainless steel water meter shell blank and a machining method thereof, a stainless steel water meter shell and a water meter. The machining method comprises the steps of part dismantling, stamping forming, cutting, part machining, assembly, furnace welding and the like. The machining method is characterized in that the to-be-machined blank is decomposed into parts such as a shell male sheet, a shell female sheet and an inner ring; the shell male sheet and the shell female sheet are configured to be of a mirror image structure in plane symmetry, and are matched to form an inner cavity structure of the water meter shell; a containing space for allowing a water meter movement to be arranged is formed in a cavity; the matching relation between the inner ring and theshell male sheet as well as between the inner ring and the shell female sheet is configured into the mode that the plane where a fixing hole of the inner ring is located and the plane where a shell opening is located are parallel or basically parallel; and then stainless steel is used as a material to conduct hydraulic cold punching forming, and finally the shell blank is obtained through assemblyand welding. The water meter is made of the safer stainless steel material, in the machining process, energy consumption is lower, more environmental friendliness is achieved, reusing after recyclingis achieved, and the comprehensive cost is greatly lowered.
