PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fault indicator for a lighting arrestor, whose configuration is simple, and which can be easily mounted on the existing lighting arrestor and used without modification of the lighting arrestor and can be visually recognized from the outside when the lighting arrestor is out of order, and also to provide the lighting arrestor.SOLUTION: A fault indicator for a lighting arrestor includes: a temperature sensing element 11 which is mounted so as to come into contact with a bottom part outer wall surface 110 of a lightning arrester main body and detects heat generated due to failure of the lighting arrestor 101: and an indicator 41 which is interlocked with the temperature sensing element 11 and equipped with a display tool for displaying the failure of the lighting arrestor. When heat generated due to the failure of the lighting arrestor 101 is detected, the temperature sensing element 11 acts on the indicator 41 so that the display tool 45 is displayed in a visually recognizable manner.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
