PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 2-mode optical fiber characteristics analysis method capable of evaluating mixing ratio of LP11a mode and LP11b mode on an optical fiber cross section, and a 2-mode optical fiber characteristics analyzer.SOLUTION: Disclosed 2-mode optical fiber characteristics analysis method includes the steps of, using the 2-mode optical fiber characteristics analyzer: inputting a beam of test light of a wavelength which operates in two modes into an optical fiber to be tested in an LP11 mode; calculating an effective cross section and mode field diameter from the measured light strength distribution; and calculating degenerate mode ratio.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
