PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a storage device, a virtual volume control system, and a virtual volume control method, with which, when allocating a virtual volume to one virtual machine (VM), it is possible to allocate a new virtual volume to the VM even when there is no logical volume associated with the VM or there is no free space for adding a virtual volume to an associated logical volume.SOLUTION: When there is no LU 20 associated with a VM 3, an LU control unit 12 combines unused spaces of a plurality of storage devices 30 and logically creates a new LU 20. Furthermore, when there is an UL 20 associated with the VM 3, the LU control unit 12 combines unused spaces of the plurality of storage devices 30 and logically extends the LU 20 by an amount equal to a VVOL capacity included in a VVOL creation indication.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
