PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an in vitro biofilm model approximated to human gingival margin plaque, the in vitro biofilm model being close to oral biofilm at the early stages of modern humans and effective for evaluation and selection of active ingredients.SOLUTION: A production method of an in vitro biofilm model having the content of a water-insoluble glucan of less than 1% comprises culturing a mixed bacteria selected each one or more species from the following (A) to (C) in a proteose peptone-containing culture medium that contains glucose under aerobic conditions:(A) water-insoluble glucan non-producing Streptococcus; (B) water-insoluble glucan producing Streptococcus; (C) Actinomyces; (D) Fusobacterium; and (E) Veillonella.SELECTED DRAWING: None
