PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automatically discriminating a grade of fruit/vegetable regardless of size, length, and a shape of the fruit/vegetable, a fruit/vegetable placing body capable of placing the fruit/vegetable regardless of their size and length, and an automated fruit/vegetable sorting apparatus.SOLUTION: An automated fruit/vegetable sorting method includes the steps of: placing and conveying fruit/vegetable on two or more neighboring belts; synchronizing the two or more belts on which the fruit/vegetable is placed, sideways in a fruit/vegetable conveyance direction to reciprocate or to circulate and rotate in one direction, after discriminating a grade of the fruit/vegetable; and delivering the fruit/vegetable sideways in the conveyance direction in order to sort them by grade. A fruit/vegetable placing body is constructed such that: a plurality of belts are arranged in a row in a lateral width direction of one frame and rotatably wound; the belts individually are capable of reciprocating, or circulating and rotating in one direction; a support implement projects above each of the belts; and the belts can reciprocate, or circulate and rotate in one direction together with their respective support implement.
