PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for conducting debenzylation selectively without relating to hydrogenation and decomposition of a double bond in an organic compound with a specific structure having a benzyloxy group and a double bond.SOLUTION: There is provided a debenzylation method including hydrogenation of a benzyl group as a protective group selectively by reacting an organic compound represented by the following general formula (1), where Ris a group having a benzyloxy group, R, Rand Rare hydrogen group or organic group binding to a double bond by a carbon atom, at least two of R, Rand Rare the organic groups, Rand Rand Rand Rmay bind each other to form a ring and the ring may have a substituent, with hydrogen in presence of a palladium catalyst and amine having a nitrogen atom.SELECTED DRAWING: None
