To provide a vertical axis windmill which is reducible in weight and facilitated in manufacturing while improving rotation efficiency which is equal to that of a conventional heavy-thickness blade end inclination part, and improving an activation characteristic, a wind power generating set having the same and lighting equipment.SOLUTION: In this vertical axis windmill 2, a plurality of pieces of vertical blades 5 which are aligned around a vertical rotating shaft 3a are attached to the rotating shaft via arms 6a, 6b. Each blade 5 has a main blade part 5a and a blade end inclination part 5b which extends while being inclined to a rotation center direction from vertical ends of the main blade part 5a. The blade end inclination part 5b is thinned in a thickness toward the main blade part 5a while having steps.
