Systems, devices and methods are disclosed for augmented reality and contextual dose calculations for patient users managing a health condition, such as diabetes, using an interactive health management software application on a companion computing device configured to aggregate, process, and display data and command functionalities of the companion device. Implementations of the disclosed methods and systems create an augmented reality experience operated on a companion computing device with the patient user's medical device to simplify carbohydrate estimation and conveniently inform the patient users about food nutrition before they make a selection.
