The invention relates to a detection system for a cooling air supply system of a high-pressure turbine of a gas turbine engine, whereina first cooling air stream is taken from a first section of a compressor via a piping system,a second cooling air stream is taken from a second section of the compressor via at least one cavity in the engine,a mixing section for at least a part of the first and second cooling air stream with a temperature sensor sensing the temperature of the mixture of the first and second cooling air streams in the mixing section. The invention also relates to a method for detecting a failure in the cooling of a high-pressure turbine.
