The present disclosure relates to a computationally efficient technique for determining a location of a fault on a power line. The technique includes determining an approximate location of the fault based at least in part on a local current measurement and a local voltage measurement from a local relay and a remote current measurement and a remote voltage measurement from a remote relay. The technique includes determining a corrected location of the fault based on the approximate fault location and a correction factor, wherein the correction factor is based on a propagation constant of the power line.
