In one aspect, to a method of data replication and sharing in an agricultural area with a communications system is provided. The communications system can include a base station, a plurality of remote nodes in operative communication with the base station, and at least one agricultural machine within range of the base station or at least one of the remote nodes. The method can include collecting, at the at least one agricultural machine, data from the agricultural area, transmitting, from the at least one agricultural machine, the collected data to a first remote node of the plurality of remote nodes, replicating the collected data at each operational remote node of the plurality of remote nodes neighboring the first remote node, and receiving, at the at least one agricultural machine, status information originating from one or more remote nodes of the plurality of remote nodes from the first remote node.
