“Attractive formulations for. obliqua (diptera: tephritidae) originating from the red fruit carambola ”the world production of fruits presents a great diversity of cultivated species, being characterized, mainly, by fruits of temperate climate, which are produced and consumed, in bigger scale, in the northern hemisphere . however, despite the evident growth of fruit production, brazil has suffered great losses in this area due to the attack of fruit flies. Among these pest insects, the anastrepha obliqua species stands out, which is associated with more than forty hosts in Brazil, including carambola, guava and mango. thus, the present work aimed to determine attractive formulations for females of anastrepha obliqua consisting of the volatile compounds released by the star fruit (averrhoa carambola) through the use of analytical techniques and behavioral bioassays. the results showed that all the individual formulations and mixtures were as attractive as the star fruit extract, with emphasis on the m2c formulation that presented the highest behavioral average.
