embodiments of the present invention include receiving, through a trust protocol node in the trust protocol network, a request to read a particular block of the trust protocol, where the request is received from a lightweight node in the network of trust protocol and includes a lightweight node identity, and where the particular block includes an original merkle tree associated with the particular block; identify, through the trust protocol node, permissions associated with the identity of the lightweight node; generate, through the trust protocol node, an isolated merkle tree based on the original merkle tree included in the block, the isolated merkle tree including only transactions from the original merkle tree that are determined to be accessible by the lightweight node based on the identified permissions, where the isolated merkle tree is consistent with the original merkle tree; and send through the trust protocol node, a response to the lightweight node including the isolated merkle tree.
