the present invention relates to a method of measuring the presence of calprotectin heterodimer (s100a8 / a) in a biological sample using a particle-enhanced turbidimetric immunoassay (ietip) based on monoclonal antibodies. the method can be adapted on standard automated analyzers and provides a reliable clinical measurement of calprotectin in faecal samples and extracts. the method is comparable with a two-site sandwich type. the described method combats spontaneous agglutination caused by calcium ions and low molecular weight calcium-binding s100 proteins as observed with particle-enhanced turbidimetric immunoassay (ietip). the method can be used to measure the presence of human calprotectin in faeces, urine, serum, plasma, synovial fluid and other body fluids. metrological traceability and high commutability with conventional immunoassays (elisa) were shown despite different measurement principles used.
