A method for providing insects to select from classes or for quality control of selected insects comprises providing insects in a container with an opening that can be closed, opening the opening that can be closed, releasing insects through the opening that can be closed for a channeled air flow, the air flow transporting the insects to a collection site, the collection site being transportable, and applying an immobilizing agent to the insects at the collection site, to provide stationary insects for that selection or control of quality.
