methods for characterizing and mitigating interference in a radio communication system, radio communication system, and, computer program product method for characterizing interference in a radio communication system including a plurality of user equipment communicating with transceiver stations, the method including: determining indicative amounts of interference (attenuation or power) experienced by a transceiver station interfered by the interference user equipment; and exchange information between transceiver stations based on these quantities and with respect to interference from user interference equipment. in particular, user equipment is in communication with respective service transceiver stations, and exchange includes sending from service transceiver stations to interfering transceiver stations, information regarding interference from user equipment served by service transceiver stations and interfering with the interfering transceiver stations. the method also includes grouping, through the service transceiver station, the interfering user equipment according to a certain grouping criterion in order to form groups of them.
