pipe laying vessel, clamp assembly and method of laying a duct from a pipe laying vessel. the present invention relates to a pipe laying vessel (10) for laying in one duct (30), the vessel (10) defining a pipe laying path (20) extending along the vessel (10 ), the vessel (10) comprising one or more rail tensioners (200a, 220b, 200c) disposed along the pipe laying path (20), and an in-progress clamp assembly (300), comprising a clamp (340 ) mounted along a length of the pipe laying path (20). the vessel (10) may also comprise a fixed clamp assembly (100) located on the pipe laying path (20) to secure the duct (30) in a fixed position on the pipe laying path (20). at least one of the clamp assemblies may comprise a load bearing structure (120, 320) and a clamp (130, 140, 340) in which a portion facing downstream of the clamp (130, 140, 340) is in a relationship border with a portion facing upstream of the load bearing structure (120, 320) so that a downstream force exerted, in use, by the duct (30) on the clamp (130, 140, 340) is transmitted to the load structure load bearing (120, 320).
