The invention relates to a system for improving the information of persons in railway traffic, in particular train drivers, which comprises an electronic device with a display adapted for use in a drive unit (00) or other part of a train. The device is provided with application software for data processing and visualization and digital map data of at least a part of the railway network, the application software containing means / blocks for performing activities related to the organization and management of railway transport. The electronic device with the display is designed as a digital assistance device (3), which is functionally separated from the control elements of the drive unit (00). The digital map data contains comprehensive information about the track, including gradients, signals and possibly also the track in stations, and the digital assistance device (3) is provided with means for full graphical visualization of the course of the journey.
