The present invention relates to a method and apparatus (01) for selectively directing a stream containing bulk material through at least one first line (21) or at least one second line (22). The flow leads to a flow region (03), in which a flow element (04) is located with the possibility of at least partial movement. The flow element may occupy stable first or second switching positions in the flow region, wherein said switching positions are provided with at least dynamic flow pressure acting on the flow element, and when at least dynamic flow pressure is overcome, the flow element can move in both directions between the indicated switching positions to block the outlet (31) leading to the first line, or the outlet (32) leading to the second line. To switch in both directions, a force is applied to the flow element in a non-contact manner in a direction different from the direction of flow.
