The present invention relates to the detection and isolation of target cells based on microfluidic technology and cell sorting technology (MicroFACS). In this method, biological cells and microparticles are encapsulated inside hydrodynamically generated droplets and analyzed using suitable optics based on fluorescence and scattering signals. Once target cells are detected, the optics initiates electrocoalescence to sort the target cells into the water stream.
