The invention provides a bacterial composition to reduce inflammation in the intestinal tract comprising from 10⁴ to 10¹² cfu/g of Pediococcus pentosaceus viable cells which have the ability to induce the production of inteheukin-10 by THP-1 macrophages. The invention also provides the use of said bacterial composition in the amelioration of excessive crying in infants.
