The present invention relates to non-ferrous metallurgy, in particular, to methods for protecting sulfuric acid electrolyte from evaporation during copper electrowinning. The technical result is elimination of gas release into the environment and contamination of regenerative cathodes with oil film, improvement of quality of regenerative cathodes. This is achieved by provision of a method for protecting sulfuric acid electrolyte from evaporation during copper electrowinning, wherein, according to the invention, the surface of regenerative baths is covered by means of a removable reusable bell apron made of flexible chemically resistant plastic compound for each anode, and the copper electrowinning is carried out using the following electrolyte composition, g/L: sulfur acid - 90-120, copper - 45-60, nickel - 18-35.
