The invention relates to composite materials containing boron carbide and intended for production of structural components for protection against thermal neutrons. The technical results of the composite are improved protection against thermal neutrons and the possibility to create high-strength structural components to be used in a wide temperature range. The technical results of a method are reduced labour-output ratio in the composite production and improved quality of the composite. The technical result is achieved by that the structural heat-resistant boron-bearing composite consists of novolac-type phenolformaldehyde resin, hexamethylenetetramine and boron carbide with the following ratio, wt.%: phenolformaldehyde resin - 20-28; hexamethylenetetramine - 1.8-2.8; boron carbide - the balance. The technical result is also achieved by using a structural heat-resistant boron-bearing composite preparation method characterized in that phenolformaldehyde resin, hexamethylenetetramine and boron carbide powders and 16-20 mm diameter PTFE balls are placed in a cup, the cup is placed in a planetary unit and the components are mixed during at least 15 min to achieve a homogeneous mixture at disc and cup velocity rate ratio 2:1, the disc being rotated clockwise and the cup - anticlockwise, then the prepared composite is placed in a press die depending on the product volume and pressed during at least 15 min at 175-185°C under the pressure which maintains the pre-defined volume of the composite, the press die with the composite is cooled down outside the press to the temperature of not more than 100°C, and the finished composite product is ejected.
