The present invention provides a gap detection method of medium-low speed maglev train based on image processing. Two gap sensing units simultaneously capture the levitation gap image through the corresponding high-speed industrial camera, respectively, transmit the collected images to the corresponding image processing unit to process the levitation gap image. The actual levitation gap value of the current levitation point and the actual levitation gap value of the levitation point of the levitation frame adjacent to the current levitation point are calculated by the corresponding gap calculation unit 1 respectively, and transmitted to the gap calculation unit n of the current levitation point and the levitation point of the levitation frame adjacent to the current levitation point, respectively. The gap calculation unit n calculates the final levitation gap value and issues a fault alarm signal when the data difference of two levitation gap values of a same side from the two gap calculation units is too large. The present invention has the advantages of strong anti-interference ability, low equipment cost and simple installation process, high linearity, no temperature drift, high detection accuracy and high fault tolerance.
