This invention relates to the novel potentially therapeutic compounds that contain oxathiino[6,5-b]pyridine 2,2-dioxide derivatives and their analogues with the anticancer and/or antiproliferative, and/or antimetastatic properties and/or those with the carbonic anhydrase 9th and/or 12th isoforms (CA IX and/or CA XII) inhibitory activity as well as the application of these compounds in cancer treatment and/or prophylaxis and in the treatment of such diseases where inhibition of CA IX and/or CA XII is crucial.
