The invention relates to coordination chemistry, namely to a coordination polymer of cobalt(II) with the Schiff base - 2,6-diacetylpyridine bis(isonicotinoylhydrazone), which has adsorption properties.According to the invention, claimed is 2,6-diacetylpyridinebis(isonicotinoylhydrazonato)(2-)cobalt(II)-water(1/5.75) coordination polymer of the formula {[Co(L)]·5.75H2O}n, produced in solvothermal conditions at a temperature of 120°C, for 48 hours, in a dimethylformamide/methanol solvent mixture. The polymer has a porous structure with a specific surface of 841 m2/g calculated according to the BET equation and has adsorption properties.
