Ultrasonic measuring instrument comprising an enclo— sure or housing which contains a transducer for transmitting and receiving ultra—sound waves, and a rotatable mirror placed inside the enclosure or housing for directing ultra—sound waves coming from the transducer through a window comprised in the enclosure or housing to an object of measuring outside the enclosure or housing, and for directing ultra—sound waves which are reflected by the object of measuring and which enter the enclosure or housing through the window, to the transduc— er, wherein the window is a spherical window and the transduc— er is embodied as a Phased—Array (PA) transducer comprising multiple ultrasonic transducer elements each of which can be pulsed independently, wherein during use the timing of excita— tion of the respective transducer elements is set so as to ra— diate a desired ultrasonic beam.
