Discloses a method of identifying a eukaryotic cell that produces a multi-subunit complex, such as an antibody, with a greater purity, comprising culturing eukaryotic cells comprising differing numbers of copies of one or more of the genes that provide for expression of the subunits of the multi-subunit complex, wherein at least one of said genes encoding the subunits of said multi-subunit complex is not contained in a polycistronic gene and identifying the eukaryotic cell that produces a greater purity than another eukaryotic cell in said panel of eukaryotic cells as a eukaryotic cell that produces a multi-subunit complex with a greater purity, with the proviso that the eukaryotic cells are not yeast cells.
