A household device with a drying function and a device for detecting the humidity of to-be-dried objects which can be arranged in the household device comprises a container for receiving the objects to be dried, at least one sensor for detecting a measurement signal in the form of a light intensity reflected by at least one object to be dried, and a controller which is connected to the at least one sensor and in which at least one reference characteristic curve is stored. The sensor is configured to detect a first measurement signal in a water absorption band corresponding to a wavelength range, to detect at least one second measurement signal having reflected light intensity in another wavelength range, and to supply the same to the controller. The controller is configured to determine the humidity of the objects to be dried in the container based on the first and second measurement signals and the stored reference characteristic curve. The household device has the drying function andthe device for detecting the humidity of to-be-dried objects which can be arranged in the household device: a corresponding method.
