The purpose of the notification is the treatment of liquid wastes contaminated with high levels of cations of metals and other inorganic ions, which are beneficial for sulphate and which are characterised by acidic pH, in particular, tailings resulting from the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment and acidic mining waters, including the following steps: (a) impurities by raising pH with simultaneous scraping of ion metals, in particular iron, by adding a compound or chemical compounds with basic pH and/or addition of ammonia source,where the source of ammonia may be ammonia solution, e.g. synthetic ammonia and/or ammonia containing a preparation obtained from the production of urea bacteria;(d) contact of the diluted waste in stage (c) with sulphur reducing bacteria. The notification also covers the use of bacteria capable of reducing sulphates in the treatment of liquid waste contaminated with high levels of cations of metals and other inorganic ions, preferably sulphate, which are characterised by acidic pH, in particular tailings from the recycling processes of used electrical and electronic equipment and acidic mining waters,where these sulphate-reducing bacteria are exposed to liquid waste after the pH and/or metal ion removal phase for liquid waste and the dilution of liquid waste.
