The object of the invention is the production of Pt or Pd nanoparticles, or of Pt/Pd or Pt/Ag platinum alloys, comprising steps to reduce Pt or Pd precursors or to mix Pt/Pd precursors or to mix Pt/Ag precursors in an aqueous solution and then to purify the nanoparticles resulting from the reduction, in which the reduction in the aqueous solution of precursor Pd, Pt or a mixture of precursors Pt/Pd or a mixture of precursors Pt/Ag is achieved by the gradual addition of the diluent solution to the precursor solution(s), together with the addition of the glutathione solution.
