The invention relates to an ecological device for treatment and for recovery of heavy metals from waste water, using nano-structured iron oxides which can be reused in several water treatment cycles using magnetite. According to the invention, the device consists of a tank (1) in which the water-magnetite solution is prepared by stirring, the solution is then taken over by a dosing pump (3) and sent into a mixing column (4) wherein magnetite is mixed with water which contains dissolved heavy metals, for extracting the heavy metals from water, by agglomeration, in the presence of the magnetic field, the water-magnetite solution is sent by a submersible pump (5) to two sub-modules of alternating hydraulic operation, one multi-layer coil (8 and 16) being mounted in each such sub-module and being supplied with alternating electric voltage by two electronic power sources - invertors (12 and 17) where, in order to prevent permanent magnetization of magnetite particles leading to a decrease of heavy-metal adsorption specific surface, the multi-layer coils (8 and 16) are supplied with alternating electric voltage to generate an alternating magnetic field in their vicinity.
