The invention relates to 4-isopropyl-1,3-oxazol-5(4H) -one derivative compounds to be used in antimicrobial therapy and to a process for preparing the same. According to the invention, the compounds have the general formula I, where X is H, Cl or Br. The process, as claimed, consists in cyclization of acyclic intermediates of the N-acyl- α-amino acid class under the action of ethyl chloroformate, in the presence of N-methylmorpholine.
