Heat pump system with propane R290 as refrigerant for use in conditioning of the building is split heat pump and it consist of compact indoor unit (1) and compact outdoor unit (2), and is connected with conditioning installation via buffer (3). Secondary propane-water heat exchanger (4) is arranged in an assembly of the buffer (3), so if leakage of propane is occurred it is released in water of the buffer (3) and discharged via safety pipeline (6) outside the building. Indoor unit (1) and outdoor unit (2) are interconnected by coaxial copper pipelines (8), wherein all connections are made by hard soldering, without extensions and fittings inside the building. Copper pipelines (8) is coated with plastic covering which is interrupted outside the building, and the joint of outer plastic covering is protected by an aluminum strip, thereby ensuring that propane, due to its eventual leakage, is taken outside the building to the atmosphere. All electric components, that are potential source of ignition, are situated inside the indoor unit (1).
