The preparation of nanocrystalline Cu powder containing different volume fraction of secondary phases Al2O3 and MgO is realized by phase transformations - in situ method and mechanical grinding. Thermochemical transformations of Al (NO3) 3.9H2O and Mg (HCO3) 2 precursors yield secondary phases of Al2O3 and MgO nanoparticles with sizes below 50 nm and chemical reduction of the CuO precursor to form a nanocrystalline Cu matrix. The milling processes used ensure a homogeneous distribution of the secondary phases and a refinement of the copper structure, resulting in a temperature stable nanocrystalline structure of the Cu - Al2O3 - MgO powder mixture.
