The pattern for the monocular determination of the subjective value of the astigmatic cylinder axis comprises rotatable fields (2) with a series of alternating and touching two colors. The fields (2) are arranged in a row on a black background (1), wherein each field (2) is formed by a series of aligned touching and color alternating strips (3, 4) of equal width. One edge strip (5) of the row has one color of the two colors used and the other edge strip (6) of the row has a second color of the two colors used.
