Disclosed is a Filipiniana graduation garb, an alternative to a heavy European inspired graduation gown, and more suited to the Philippine's tropical climate. It is elegant, simple, light-weighed, and showcases the Filipino indigenous culture. The said graduation garb is worn over the head of the wearer. The wearing of said graduation garb by the academic community such as the graduating class and professors - promotes nationalism, appreciation for the Filipino indigenous culture and sense of national identity. It also helps to curb the Filipino tendency to colonial mentality of imitating western practices, though some are deemed inappropriate, such as the wearing of long heavy graduation gowns during graduation ceremonies. The Filipiniana graduation garb comprises: a pleated front elongated V -shaped body having an aesthetic pattern; a pleated rear round-shaped body attached to the top portion of said front body, having an aesthetic pattern; a patchwork of a university's logo attached to the lower portion of said front body; and a connector made of cord and stopper-with ends attached to the right and left sides of top portion of the wrong side of the said rear body, for easy adjustment to the shoulder-width of the wearer. Further, this Filipiniana graduation garb's aesthetic pattern bears a university's initials, college's initials and their representations in Filipinos' cultural baybayin. The cloth material of said graduation garb is made of light fabric.
