CHITIN EXTRACTION FROM Argopecten irradans SHELL FOR THE BIOSORPTION OF MANGANESE

The present utility model relates to a method of extracting chitin from Argopecten irradians shells for the biosorption of manganese. The steps involved are pulverizing the shells, deproteinizing the pulverized shells to obtain chitin, demineralizing the obtained chitin, decolorizing the demineralized chitin, and drying the decolorized chitin for subsequent use in biosorption of minerals such as manganese.
